Our Vision:
Work to develop strong men, strong with leadership through culture change to increase capacity reach for the community of Ipswich
Our Aim:
We aim to empower Indigenous men by drawing on existing knowledge to provide both a cultural and a gender perspective.
Our Mission:
BOORUMPAH GOUPONG will strategically work towards improving men’s health particularly Indigenous men, by working in partnership with other services to meet the goals and aspirations identified in our objectives and action areas below.
Our Values:
BOORRUMPAH GOUPONG is built on strong cultural values that recognize individual strengths, family, and kinship connections. We value support through the development of strong partnerships to achieve sustainable change in social and well-being for men.
About us
Boorrumpah is the first Indigenous, community-based men’s organization in Ipswich, created to address the lack of culturally appropriate support for men’s well-being. As a not-for-profit, it aims to tackle mental health and social issues by building strong, culturally grounded leadership. Boorrumpah is committed to good governance and is actively developing independent fundraising and partnerships with philanthropic and government bodies to expand its reach and impact within the Ipswich community.
Cultural Safety – all Indigenous persons particularly males of all ages, to feel strong and safe in knowing their place, identity, and community
Connections – all males of all ages, connect with other people, land, and the environment
Respect – for all males of all ages, model respectful behaviors within their family circle, community interactions, and towards others
Future Leadership – invest in and mentor youth; elders and males of all ages to become leaders in their chosen families and community
